To Purchase New Plant & Equipment
Not only skiffs and oars are needed
The Club needs a modern and up-to-date fleet of boats and oars, ergometers, trailers etc.
Equipment has a useful life and The Club has a policy of rotating plant after several years useage. A new 8 costs in the region of $60k plus a set of oars costing $10k with an ideal lifespan of 5 years, you realise that to maintain a good fleet of boats is a costly exercise.
Womens boats are different to Mens boats which means a double up of all equipment. The least expensive boat is a single scull at around $25k plus $2k for a set of oars.
Ergometers are around $4k each , again with a limited lifespan. Some equipment gets used more than others, so an eye as to the suitability of retaining plant has to always be on the Executives mind as to replacement.
The sport of Rowing is an expensive sport, not only of the plant and equipment, but on insurances, running costs of the building, transportation, all which are covered by the members annual subscription.
Whilst The Club has one of the best equipped fleet of boats, it is becoming more difficult in obtaining necessary funds from sources. Your donation into this fund will greatly assist our members competing and enjoying the best The Club can offer.
